How to get to glenmoor by the sea

You'll find Glenmoor By the Sea located directly on the iconic Route 1, the lifeline of Maine's coast. We are perfectly nestled between the bustle of downtown Camden (5 minutes south) and the sandy shores of Lincolnville Beach (2 minutes north), giving you the best of both worlds: quiet oceanfront relaxation with easy access to the area's best dining and hiking.

Traveling by Air (The Airports)

Maine is a big state, and choosing the right airport can shape your adventure. Here is how we recommend flying in:

Knox County Regional Airport (RKD) – 30 Minutes The "Rockstar Arrival." This is the closest option, located just south in Owls Head.

The Route: Daily flights via Cape Air from Boston (Logan).

Good to Know: These are small, 9-seater planes. It's not just a flight; it's a scenic tour over the coast! If you love a bit of adventure and want to skip the drive, this is your best bet.

Bangor International Airport (BGR) – 1 Hour 15 Minutes The Northern Hub. Often less crowded than Portland, Bangor offers an easy drive down from the north. A great option if you want to avoid Southern Maine traffic entirely.

Portland International Jetport (PWM) – 1 Hour 45 Minutes The Most Popular Choice. Portland is the primary entry point for major airlines (Southwest, Delta, United, etc.). The drive up the coast from here is classic Maine.

Boston Logan International (BOS) – 3 Hours 30 Minutes The International Gateway. If you are flying internationally or need a specific carrier, Boston is the major hub. The drive is longer, but you'll see plenty of New England charm along the way.

Driving Directions (The Scenic Route)

From the South (Boston, Portland)

Take I-95 N toward Maine.

Merge onto I-295 N (The coastal route toward Portland/Brunswick).

Take Exit 28 in Brunswick to merge onto US-1 N.

The Experience: Follow US-1 N all the way through the charming villages of Wiscasset, Damariscotta, and Camden. Once you pass downtown Camden, we are just 5 minutes further north on the right-hand side.

From the North (Bangor)

Take US-1A S toward Winterport and Belfast.

In Belfast, merge onto US-1 S.

Continue south for about 15 minutes. We will be on your left, just after you pass Lincolnville Beach.
LOCALS TIP!
The "Lobster Roll" Traffic Tip: Driving up Route 1? You will inevitably pass through Wiscasset. You will see a very long line at Red's Eats (famous for a reason!).

The Local Secret: If you want to save an hour and still get an incredible lobster roll, look across the street to Sprague's Lobster. Same fresh lobster, zero wait time, and river views. You're welcome!

A Note on Seasons: Route 1 is breathtaking, especially during fall foliage. However, July and August are peak season. Traffic in Wiscasset and Camden can move slowly, so pack some snacks, queue up a good playlist, and give yourself a little extra travel time. Relax—you're on Maine time now!

Getting Around

Pro Tip: Bring Your Own Wheels Lincolnville is a true getaway, which means we are a car-dependent location.

No Uber/Lyft: Rideshare apps haven't found our slice of paradise yet. You won't be able to hail a ride from the airport or to dinner.

Rentals: If you are flying in, we highly recommend booking a rental car at the airport immediately.

Alternative Options

Concord Coach Lines: Offers reliable bus service from Boston/Portland with a stop directly at Lincolnville Beach (just 2 miles from the inn). Note: You will still need a taxi to get from the stop to the hotel.

Limo & Taxi Services: Local options like Schooner Bay Taxi exist, but they are limited and must be booked well in advance.
