Outdoor Things to Do in Camden Maine

Camden State Park and Mt. Battie
If you like the outdoors or are just looking for the highest point to enjoy a commanding view of picturesque Camden Harbor and Penobscot Bay, then hiking up Mt. Battie is the way to go. This is a relatively easy hike – 1 hour up the mountain, and 1 hour down. For those less adventurous, Mt. Battie Road will take you straight to the top. Once there the lookout tower provides a great backdrop for the even more spectacular views you will find looking across the bay to Cadilac Mountain (Acadia/ Bar Harbor) and Blue Hill. Glenmoor residents can opt for a short ride down the road to the beginning of the hiking trail or simply leave the car behind and enjoy the short walk between the Glenmoor and Camden State Park.

Kayaking
Down the street from the Glenmoor is Ducktrap Kayak. Explore Maine’s coast first hand on 2 hour or half-day guided tours. This outfitter carries finest kayaks, gear, clothing, and books. Tours available daily May – October. No experience necessary.

Lincolnville Beach
The Lincolnville Beach is a small but delightful public beach just up the road overlooking boat docks and is also home to a great restaurant featuring Maine’s famous Lobster Rolls. While there be sure to check out McLaughlin’s Lobster Shack.

Maine Sports Rentals
If you are looking to rent any sports equipment Maine Sports Outfitters is the way to go. Rentals include bicycles, sea and lake kayaks, canoes, camping gear, and winter sports rentals. Main Sports Outfitters also offers fun and affordable day tours which many of our guests have enjoyed in the past.

Megunticook Mountain and Lake
Found off of route 52 in Camden, diagonally across from the public library.   — Enjoy a mile hike up the mountain to find a beautifully placed cross and spectacular view. Have a picnic at the top over-looking one of Maine’s most beautiful lakes.

Megunticook lake is great for fishing, boating and kayaking. Not only is it quiet and peaceful but a great spot for a dip. You can find a boating dock just across the street from the main access point to the hiking trail.

Golfers Crossing
Mini-golfing is such a great game for families friends and couples. Golfers crossing is located in Rockport just south of Camden, about 10 minutes from us here at Glenmoor. They are just past the heart of Camden. Definitely worth a visit to their very nice and clean kept facility.
